The film and its cast and crew have earned several award nominations, including four Academy Award nominations and four British Academy Film Award nominations.  Judi Dench and Steve Coogan received nominations for Best Actress and Best Actor at the British Independent Film Awards.  Philomena also had three nominations at the 2013 Golden Globe Awards.
